What is the TOS?
The Theosophical Order of Service (TOS) was founded by Annie Besant in 1908, who as international president of the Theosophical Society (TS) was an ardent social activist. The TOS provides a framework in which people can engage in practical, creative, and humanitarian activities promoting the First Object: To form a nucleus of a universal brotherhood of humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste, or color. The TOS provides a framework to perform these actions in a theosophical spirit, whether or not the participants are members of the TS.
The TOS works locally and internationally in such areas as:
- education
- social welfare & justice
- healing
- peace
- the environment
- emergency relief
- animal concerns
We will have a Holiday Mitten Tree Project again this year. Besides mittens, please bring gloves, hats and scarves in all sizes We will begin collecting them after December 1st. And after our Holiday Party the items will be given to Parmadale.
